Prison
April 27, 2020
The world’s a prison I cannot escape
Every shadow I see bears your shape
Your voice is carried in every breeze
As the wind dallies among the trees.
Within the shimmer of moonlight
Is the flash of your eyes so bright
Rain carries upon its silver shimmer
A hint of your smile’s light glimmer.
How can someone so gentle and fair
Be so cruel to bind my heart in despair
Burning with yearning torment for thee
A desire which I don’t want to be free.
