Echo Sonnet No. 3

Love will never let reason have any say
Buttons popped off in passion’s hot rush
Felt like a teen, sneaking in with a hush
In secret at night did the two of us play.
Old lovers paled to you and faded away
Read you stories that made maids blush
Nothing compared to you in lust’s flush
Moments apart lost color, became grey.
You declared soon you would leave
So we went to where the water is hot
Made jokes about a root that is gross
Only after you left me would I grieve
One last bittersweet kiss was all I got
As I rode into night filled with morose.
