Echo Sonnet No. 5
May 5, 2020
Knew I would suffer passions throes
Couldn’t resist seeing you once more
Each moment away added new lows
Though soon I’d see the one I adore.
Sun had turned your skin chestnut
Tenderly I held your face full of joy
Your hair was burnt sienna and cut
“That’s love,” a man said to his boy.
Despite the words and tropical air
I felt the icy chill of a premonition
Cutting of your locks let me despair
Didn’t need me by its commission.
Someday our love would be done
Cherished the moments in the sun.
