Echo Sonnet No. 2
May 2, 2020
Knew you loved me the very first day
Moments burned slow, others too fast
On and off again you wanted to play
I told myself that this just wouldn’t last.
With my caress you chirped as a bird
Your hair a shadow, fanned all around
You leave and return without any word
My heart to you grew ever more bound.
Just as quick it was over, or so I thought
Then you’re back with eyes flashing spite
But Cupid’s arrows hit what they sought
Your façade fell to need without any fight.
You shiver as I kiss you in my dark way
Love will never let reason have any say.
